Currently I am an account manager for a fortune 500 company with a base of $51,000 - Company Vehicle (new SUV) & Phone. Receive about $10k in total for commission. Today marks my one year with them. Very happy, and work my own hours. Get all the 401k matches, benefits and employee stock purchase, etc...
I just recently got an offer from a new company in the area, and are willing to pay $75k base, $400 vehicle allowance, and based off their commission plan, $10k+ in commission seems achievable by year 2-3. Also comes with benefits, retirement plan, etc. This company is a lot smaller, but I would essentially be a pioneer, building the market.
At my current job, I know other account managers have a much higher base than me, around $60-$65k. Which initially I thought was normal. Now, a year in, I see that I have much more responsibilities, and have achieved $$ goals much quicker than my colleagues.
I do like where I am at, but want to be compensated equally. Should I reach out to my General manager or join the new team?
