My mother’s (62) health has been declining since June of last year and her only source of income is $1,000 from Social Security retirement. I help her out by paying the cable, gas, groceries, and half of the car insurance. She pays for the rest although the expenses surpass her income. She has been putting everything on credit. There was a moment in time where she was on unemployment but she stopped claiming it every week in fear of it depleting and having to go back to work. She has shown early signs of dementia and her short term memory is fading but neurologists are booked for the rest of the year and they’re scared to diagnose her this early.

I (F/24) make $42,845 a year and I just transferred 1,500 to her account because it’s overdrawn. I live with her and have made many efforts to get her on public assistance to no avail due to the fact that they income my income in the household income. Unemployment was the only thing vaguely working but now I’m concerned if I can log in tomorrow and restart the weekly certification process to start getting payments again. We live in New York.

I feel like I’m drowning and I’m trying my best to keep everything together and I don’t know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?
