This was a lesson I just learned the hard way. A few months ago when it was winter, our 20 year old water heater broke and flooded our basement. We scrambled to get it fixed and just went with the first company that came out. I didn’t do my research and probably paid about double what I should’ve.
Now I’m doing things differently. Our furnace is over 20 years old and while it’s still functioning well, I know I’ll need to replace it the near future so I’m getting quotes now instead of waiting until it breaks. That way I’ll know which company to call when it does break.
