OF bans adult content, they effectively ban 99% of their creators and give 99% of their users no reason to ever use the site. The name is also synonymous with adult content, no non-porn creator will ever tell their fanbase to follow them on OF like they do Instagram or YouTube.
Based on the above, why would any venture capital firm want to make an investment in a platform with no creators and no daily active users?!
They pulled $2B in revenue last year, taking 20% off the top gives them $400M in cash to meet all of their development and hosting needs. I refuse to believe there was no money leftover to invest in "growth", and furthermore I refuse to believe there aren't investors in the adult content space they couldn't have targeted for investment or outright sale. Are you really telling me MindGeek wouldn't be all over that opportunity?
From a business perspective, what are they thinking? What is their game plan?
