When we moved in our home 3 years ago it had a washer and dryer from the previous owners- this past year the sounds from it were HORRIBLE and it would randomly stop. Partner insisted we needed a new one but I convinced him to let me try and fix it.
Bought a new bearing kit and belts for $55. Got my teens in on the action to teach them and once we opened it up we saw the problem- the bearing inside was destroyed, a huge amount, almost a quarter, of it was gone and the connection for the air to pipe out was filled with seriously compacted lint- we replaced the bearing and took out three fistfuls of lint and now it runs like a dream! Took hours to get the kids to work together and teach while doing the repair but hopefully they see why later in life. I’m just THRILLED we didn’t need a new dryer!!
