I'm 40 years old and have never thought about writing a will before. However, it recently occurred to me that with my personal and retirement savings totaling over $170k, plus a $100k life insurance policy through my job, if I were to have a fatal accident, having a plan could make things easier on my family.
I tried googling it, but I got overwhelmed by the amount of info on different types of wills and trusts and recommendations to hire an attorney. Without spending a lot of time or money, is there a simple way to say "if I die, please divide all my money equally between these 6 family members"?
Some more details about me: - I do not have children or plan to have them. - I don't own any property or have any debt. - I am very healthy and plan to live another 5 decades or so, but sometimes shit happens and I just want a simple backup plan.
