I am a an admitted Costco enthusiast. Nothing makes me happier than a big Costco trip. I recently became a mother and my baby only tolerates pampers which they only sell at Sam’s club.
Coincidentally they have a Sam’s club membership on Groupon for only $25.00 right now. So I went ahead and bought it. If you use their “scan and go” app within 60 days you also get a $20.00 gift card so basically the membership is 5.00
I thought I’d write out some of the pros and cons of both clubs in case it’s helpful to anyone on here.
Sam’s Club Pros Membership is less expensive 45 normally, and 25 with the Groupon deal, Had noticeably more name brands, Has gas discount (even for non members!) , Their app is pretty comprehensive and saves your receipts which is nice if you track expenses, Had a better variety of reasonably sized items if you have a smaller family, Had pampers for the lowest price I’ve found, In my opinion had better frozen food variety Bigger alcohol variety
Cons Not as well stocked as Costco, Was noticeably not as clean as Costco, Employees were not as helpful or friendly as Costco, Less items in their members mark brand than Costco has in their Kirkland brand, Had more junk food and unhealthy items. This could be a pro for some but I feel like I can get healthy foods for a deal at Costco. Not as many samples
Costco Pros Gas discount Kirkland brand! Cheaper and amazing quality Friendly and helpful employees, The company also is known for paying employees well and offering more benefits than Sam’s club which I like to support, Wide variety of fresh produce, Larger warehouse (at least in my area), More clothes offerings
Cons Less name brand items, More expensive membership 60.00 for regular membership
Ok so I couldn’t really think of many Costco cons 😂 and some of these might just be for my locations. Either way I hope this is helpful to someone. If anything the Groupon hack is helpful especially if your a parent needing a specific brand.
