So I graduated in May 2021 with an Associates and found a job as a BSA (Business Systems Analyst). I just completed my first week. My old job was a waitress at a neighborhood dive bar. A step up right? In terms of job duties, yes: I’m going from running around getting yelled at/hit on by elderly drunks to working remotely in my living room with my cats as coworkers. I went from $12.50 an hour plus tips at about 20 hrs/week to $23.08 an hour at 40 hrs/week. Average tips were like $60 per 5 hour shift so $12/hr so I was really making more like $25/hr. But again: new job less physically/emotionally demanding, and I don’t have to leave my house. I get a 401k that partially matches. But! I lose my free state health insurance and my food stamps! New health insurance is United I think, and is something like $171 per paycheck and I’m taking out $50 each on my HSA and FSA (so $271 per paycheck/$542 monthly).I go to a therapist once a week but we’re talking about tapering off due to good progress. I take two meds daily (venlafaxine and ariprazole). Those were only $4/month. Food stamps were $234/month. I have $277 on one credit card and $1,985 on another plus $10,000 in student loans. Rent is $480/month, utilities are about $100, car insurance is like $425 every 6 months with $13/month renters insurance. I own 2 cats. My question: wtf do I do with all these numbers???? What the hell do I do with my HSA, FSA, 401k? I want to figure out how long it’ll take to get debt and loan free, and how to fit in some vacations/fun. I do have the option to pick up weekend shifts at the dive bar but I need a life too.
