For context, I’m 22 and grew up dirt poor. My parents’ credit is shot and I am looking to take a different path. I have no credit cards, no student loan debt, and no medical debt. I looked up my credit despite having no credit card and found a $400 debt with Wakefield & Associates that I know is from an unpaid utility bill a couple years ago. I have no idea where to go from here/ if it has already tanked my credit before even opening a credit card?

Thank you for any input!
