So my boyfriend and I just cohabitated and we're working on refining our budget since we're both paid around $15/hr (sometimes more depending on overtime).
With rising prices everywhere and student loans, car loans, etc...I am on a mission to slash down our budget wherever possible and still have one night a week to go out with friends for dinner and save for a house while we rent.
Well, we now have three cats and they all eat 100% wet food. At about two cans per day per cat, this is roughly 2,190 cans per year! It can get very costly.
I previously always ordered from chewy, because compared to target and PetSmart's this was the cheapest option. Chewy is ~$15 or $.62/can for the variety pack. This comes to $1357.8/year on cat food alone. Yikes!
I scoured the internet...ok I did a quick Google search, and found on eBay I can purchase the same food but in a 60 can package for $28.99. If you bulk buy 4+, it's $26.67 or $.44/can. This shaves off hundreds of dollars from our yearly budget coming in at $963.60 which is $394.20 in savings! (Note that I'm not factoring in tax)
The ebay deal may not be forever, but there are always new ones popping up, I don't have a Sam's club membership but I saw a similar deal there as well. I realize every pet has different needs and food so this isn't a one size fits all solution, but I was quite pleased with this find and wanted to share!
