I want an upright freezer so I can save floor space. 8-cubic-foot upright freezers start around $480. That’s $60 per cubic foot.
Chest freezers take up more floor space. 10-cubic-foot chest freezers start around $360. That’s $36 per cubic foot.
Yes, upright freezers come with shelves that are individually cooled, but that is just pipes and refrigerant. The upcharge on 3 small shelves is a whopping 66% per cubic foot.
Sorry for the rant, it just ticks me off because it feels like what they’re really charging is a 66% convenience tax.
I’d do the same if I was selling freezers I’m sure, but it sucks when you’re on the receiving end of that bs.
