Okay, I'll start by introducing myself. I'm a young mum who's living in poverty. I'm 21. When I was 14 I was the victim of a serious crime, and I've now received 11k (GBP) compensation for what happened to me. I have no idea what to do with this money. My education suffered as a result of the crime and getting pregnant at 16, however I have my maths & English +4 other GCSEs. Prior to the attack I was incredibly gifted, I was on the gifted and talented register, I was awarded an English exhibition scholarship to a private school. Although my qualifications don't show it, I know that I'm capable.
I have no idea where to start. I want this money to count. I don't want to just spend it frivolously then be back at square one. I've considered using it for an education, however given the fact my daughter is only young (just turned 4, starting school in September) I'd like to be earning money soon so that I can invest in her future.
In an ideal world, I'd day trade, or have my own business. I just don't have enough!
If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to have gone through everything I have for absolutely nothing. I want to turn the bad into good. Honestly it would be the ultimate fuck you to my attacker to use the compensation for the crime to become at least semi successful. Plus I'll never have another opportunity like this if I stay stuck in this lifestyle so I want to make this count.
