I worked at a warehouse job since April and quit in May because of personal reasons. The thing is that I did not give a 2 week notice. I just showed up for work on Monday and did not show up for the following week. I did, however, call my boss the next morning on Tuesday (7 times but it all went straight to voicemail so I left a message) that unfortunately I would not be able to continue working there. He never responded and that was that.

The only paycheck I received was for a previous work week (so the week BEFORE I quit). When I received it in my bank account it was 4 days after I quit. This job had a habit of paying some workers late (I didn’t receive my first paycheck until 2-3 weeks after. This was after I had to confront them about this issue because they said they paid weekly in their contract) and it was one of the reasons why I quit too.

I didn’t know about the California Labor and Wages law where they had 3 days to give you your last paycheck. I barely became informed of it yesterday after I told my friend about all of this and he informed me of our state labor laws.

Well it’s been well past 3 days and nearly a month. Will I have to go to court for this? Or would it be best to contact (I still have their email and phone number) my ex employer about this? Thank you.
