Long story short, I'm 24 years old, a citizen of the United States, haven't filed my taxes since 2018, I'm out of the country for the rest of the year, and I have to get my taxes caught up by the end of the year. Also I have no idea how to do my taxes. I have absolutely no paperwork and no way to contact previous employers due to my living conditions, but I do have somebody at home who can act as a middleman should I need to receive or send paperwork now.
I feel like I'm in a situation where I don't know what I don't know, and I'm not in control of my financial situation.
What I think I need to know:
-
How do I start this whole process?
-
I assume I have to get relevant paperwork first. What forms do I need and how can I get them?
-
What are my next steps?
-
Should I just talk to a tax place like H&R BLOCK and pay them to fix my fuck up?
-
will a tax place like H&R block be able to help me if I can't even speak with them over the phone?
-
Is it realistic to think I can do all of this while not in the United States?
