My husband's company (A) was acquired by another (B), and he was told that his salary would not change. Company A paid employees on a biweekly schedule and company B pays on a semimonthly schedule. I was excited about this change as it will make budgeting easier, and I expected his paycheck amounts to increase since there are only 24 checks per year. However, his paycheck is down from 2,888 after taxes with A to 2,800 after taxes with B. We are three paychecks in with the company B and I am confused. We kept his 401k deductions the same at 6%, and we get healthcare through my employer so that can't explain this difference. Can anyone explain to me why his new paychecks would be smaller after switching from biweekly to semimonthly? Could there be some new deduction at company B that I am forgetting about?
