I recently rolled over my 401(k) to my traditional IRA as a no cost, no tax consequences 59 1/2 years old transaction. I wanted more control over my retirement investing. My primary focus is principal safety, dividend frequency & dividend yield.
BND - Vanguard Total Bond Market Index Fund ETF seeks to track the performance of a broad, market-weighted bond index. The monthly dividend is $0.1345 per share. The yield is 2.26% which is the median for the asset class. It has 14 years of consecutive dividend payments. I DRiP this dividend, just like I DRiP all of my monthly payers. This is a sound ETF tailored for medium to long-term investors (4-10 years) who like to hold a part of their portfolio in bonds. It recently shifted to BAA- rated bonds.
It is 1.33% of my portfolio.
