I've always bought Barilla pasta because it is decent and cheap. But someone mentioned De Cecco (DC) being one of the best grocery store pastas, I couldn't resist and bought it. It was more than twice the price (Barilla CA$1.39 vs. De Cecco CA$2.89). But after having the first bite of DC I could immediately tell the difference. It was firmer, but had a nice smooth body. When I cooked Barilla it would either got mushy and lost all the texture, or stayed too hard and felt half cooked. So even though it's twice the price, it's worth it given DC is not gonna break most people's bank. Just my $0.02.
