I am frugal as all heck, and I look for efficiencies anywhere possible.
Lately though... Food. Food is killing any savings I have anywhere else. My grocery bills are up 20+% or so. Beef is up 20% on its own, plain veggies are up, beans are up, rice is up... And I'm talking about WalMart grocery, Costco, and the ethnic foods store where rice is butt ass cheap if you buy a lot.
Milk and eggs are up.
Oh, big one for me: coffee beans are way up. Costco raised their price on their big back by $2, to $12 for 2.5lbs.
Tires are up a lot as well -- I had to get new tires for the car and they are up roughly 10% from just a month or two ago when I was shopping for them.
I know it's inflation, and everyone will say it's not yada yada, regardless -- how is everyone dealing with this? Short of just... Eating less, what does one do?
I feel like it's a direct assault on a basic standard of living. It also makes me kind of mad, the twenty bucks I saved by sharpening my own lawnmower blades (a task I hate) just got eaten up by groceries. Grrrr.
