I’m from Wisconsin and my grandpa put me on the waitlist for Green Bay Packers season tickets on the day I was born. I went to dozens of games growing up (my parents inherited my grandparents’ 2 seats) and I will be a Packer fan for the rest of my life. Finally, my time has come- it’s my turn for tickets.

This good news came came faster than expected, and with an added twist; until last year, I thought I was on the waitlist for 2 tickets. It has actually been 4 tickets this whole time, and the “green package” which is the biggest ticket package option and comes with 7 games.

I’m currently living in San Diego and I have no plans to move back to the Midwest in the next few years. My family still lives in Green Bay but I would make it back for maybe one home game per year. My heart wants to accept and purchase the tickets (or half of them), but I want to know if this is a worthwhile investment, as I know I would be selling each game’s 4 tickets (28 tickets per season) for at least a couple of years.

Important Details...4 tickets. Section "X", Rows 47 and 48, two seats right next to each other (the group of four would be seated in the same two seats in two rows rows next to each other). Behind the Packer's bench, towards one of the end zones. I can buy them, pass on them, or accept a portion of them. The seat license fees are due on 5/21/2021.

Cost
Year 1: $11,892
Seat License (PSLs): $2100/seat ($8400 total)
Face value of the tickets ($124/ea): $873 per seat, per season ($3492 total)

Year 2+: $3492
Face value of the tickets: $873 per seat, per season ($3492 total)

I have the money to buy them, but it pushes back plans that my wife and I have to make home improvements. I’m also aware that it would mean that I would effectively have a part time job selling NFL tickets. I’m confident that in a given year, I can sell the tickets and most likely make back the seasonal cost (face value), if not make a profit. Selling them for an average of $50 profit each would net me $1400 per year, allowing me to make up the cost of the seat license fees after six years. Historically, selling seats to a late season division rival game game in the right circumstances (games with playoff implications, etc.) can get you half way to breaking even on face value of the tickets that year.

Am I being too optimistic that I could make a $50 per ticket average profit per year? I worry that I will spend $12k to buy into something that (if I'm not there enjoying the games myself) I might take a loss on.
