Growing up, we were a family of four and my mom cooked a hot lunch every day or every other day. Between my mother’s strategic cooking and people being picky eaters, all of the leftovers always got eaten. And when they didn’t, the person who ate them got to pick the next meal.
This combined with the fact that I am fairly content eating the same thing for weeks at a time (I’m going on 6 weeks of chili variations) and that I’ve had roommates to split easily spoiled goods with means I’ve never really had a problem with food waste.
However, I’m moving into my own apartment soon and am anticipating more waste. My roommate recently showed me that you can just leave bread in the freezer and just take out slices as you need them - making them last way longer. This made me wonder if there are other foods like this!
I know that cream sauces tend to do poorly and have heard mixed things about peppers. Are there other tried and true things to freeze? What are other things where I can chop / grate / peel the other half and stick in the freezer and just take it out when I’m cooking next?
Thanks y’all!
