One morning mint told me my credit score had dropped from 810 to 735. I looked it up and I had a derogatory mark against my credit by a company called National credit systems and a company called sure deposit. I'd never heard of either of these two before.
I called sure deposit on Monday and they told me they never contacted me because it was the apartments responsibility. They told me it was the apartment complex called plymouth house apartments, part of the york properties group. They said plymouth house apartments claimed 303 in damages against my name.
I called plymouth house apartments on a recorded line and they said that they charged me 1/7th of the cost of the carpet as it had been 7 years. They change it every 7 years and I was charged 1 / 7th of the cost.
When I questioned them about it they claimed there were burns and dirt in the carpet. I asked why they never contacted me. They told me they sent a letter. I'd never received a letter from them.
Now when I first moved out of the apartment it was during the beginning of covid in may of 2020. They refused to do a walkthrough and would only accept a key turn in via a box drop. The manager, La'son called me and told me that the apartment was damage free. This was in may of 2020.
So, talking to this same manager a year later and having her lie to me sucked.
So, they said they sent this debt to collections and I asked why they didn't call or email me, she said that it wasn't her responsibility to do so. I explained that my credit score dropped and there were marks against my credit for these charges I never knew of. She didn't care, and said I would need to work it out with the debt collector as the debt had been sold.
Next I talked to the debt collector I asked them about the debt and told them I didn't owe it. I explained the situation and then asked what to do. They said to pay them 303.78 and they would clear things up with the credit agency. I asked them if I paid them this debt I didn't owe, would they send me something in writing first. They said no they would not do any sort of contract I'd have to just trust them. These same people that never bothered to contact me. I can't say I trust them at all.
What should I do?
