Hi All,
I received a notification that one of my credit card's limit was decreased. Turns out it was a department store card belonging to my mother, opened a year before I was born (almost 50 years ago). I've had it removed once before, but here it is again. Just for background, my mother and I have similar first names, e.g., Gerald/Geraldine. Also, I get mail for her about Medicare and funeral planning (vultures) even though I live several hundred miles away and she has never lived at my address. My parents created a living will/trust last year, but this predates that.
My concern isn't immediate. I have excellent credit as do my folks. It was reduced due to lack of use. What concerns me, and I hate to sound morbid, is when she does pass, and is reported as deceased, will it have an impact on my credit? If so, what do I need to do to proactively rectify it? I've seen many stories about people being declared dead prematurely/incorrectly and the aftermath.
I really hate even thinking about this, but getting old sucks.
