I am in a terrible predicament and did not know where to start. Several months ago, my girlfriend and I have borrowed a Uhaul truck under her name and have driven across the country. While I was driving during the trip, I had accidentally backed into to a gas pump causing damage (but no leakage of oil, etc). We immediately called the police and filed a report. Fast forward to last week, I have received a mail from the insurance representative from UHaul saying that the maximum amount they can cover is $15,000 and any excess above that I will be responsible for. The invoice they have received for the damage was $85,000. I am a graduate student with a 6 figure debt with minimal income and I do not know where to start with this. I feel like the whole world has crumbled under me and feel hopeless. I appreciate any advice. Thank you so much all in advance.
