So I filed under Turbo Tax...it recommended I file as Head of Household since me and gf pay most of the bills in the house. We also have a son. I’m letting her claim him but I also get an EIC which I filled. Does an EIC give me extra money? I only put that I payed about 500 in daycare for someone who watched him.
Okay...now..2019 I only worked about 7 and a half months and my tax return was like $1,500 For 2020 I worked 10 months and my tax return says $5,200 dollars
Is this right? My income for box 1 (wages tips) was $23,300 (2019 was only $16,000) My Federal income tax withheld (box 2) was $2251
I seriously just followed what TurboTax told me to do. It recommended filing as head of household which I did and I put the expenses I paid in cash for people to take care of my son. Did I mess up? I know that they were taking a good amount of money from my paychecks during 2020, so I did expect to get some big tax refund but I mean $5,000? Should it be this high? Will I get in trouble? I seriously just followed TurboTax’s recommendations... at first I was happy like “wooo $5,200!” But now I’m scared. What if I messed up and got more than I was supposed to and did something wrong. Will i be sued. Am I fine if they accepted it? Will it come back to haunt me? I seriously answered it as honestly as I could. My gf said I should be fine but I don’t wanna get a notice in 2 years saying I’m being sued, or owe them like $100,000
