i'll share my biggest life hack with this. hope you all like it.
i've got an itch for fast luxury cars. but i'm a cheap mofo.
i also learned to work on my own cars (in the spirit of being cheap), and quickly learned fast cars wear out fast and require alot of maintenance with expensive parts compared to civic/corolla.
insurance is also much higher on these cars.
my solution after being an idiot and wasting my money for many years.
i recently brought a civic (1999) got it for $700 needed a little work but parts were dirt cheap, easy to find. insurance is a little higher for civic than corolla don't know why in ny. but i like the civic because it has a little more pep than a corolla.
when ever i get an itch for a nice fast car. usually on my bday, vacation, etc. i RENT. thats right folks. i can rent a nice car. fast car. new car. i enjoy driving it. playing with the tech. and of course burnouts.
i reserve my car in advance. i always try to get discounts and upgrades. smile and say thank you and be extra nice to the person at the counter when you pick up. sometimes it helps with the upgrades. even if you don't get an upgrade it still makes you a pleasure to deal with with.
i don't have to pay for the high insurance every 6 months.
i don't have to pay for the high maintenance costs.
i don't have the massive depreciation associated with new cars.
and i never get bored of it because i never keep it for longer than a few days.
finally i take lots of photos of it. which i enjoy looking at time to time.
