I was told something recently that I don't know is true or not. And that's, "men apply for jobs they aren't qualified for, women apply for jobs they're are qualified for".
But I don't know, I'm a guy and I only feel comfortable applying for jobs that I qualify for. I'm tired of applying to jobs only to get declined in a few days. If I shot very high and applied for jobs I have no business in applying for I'd just get even more notices of rejection.
I'm looking for an entry level job in my degree field and a lot of these jobs are asking 1-2 years of experience and I feel like I have 0% chance in getting these jobs. There are even higher jobs that require 5 years of experience, I don't even bother applying to those because I know for a fact I'd get declined. What kind of people apply to those kinds of jobs that they're definitely not qualified for? I need a job that will teach me and show me the ropes, jobs that ask for 5 years experience (seem to be) are hiring someone to know what they're doing and just do the work.
