Hi /r/personalfinance,

I wanted to ask people here for advice for what my short-term goals should be in the next 5 or so years and if I am missing anything in my plan for the next year or so.

I'm an incoming new grad graduating soon from university and going into the IT industry

Through internships, experience, and by God's grace I was able to land a position that will be pay me $66,000/year after taxes.

To make a long story short, I'll be living with my parents for exactly one year starting this August which is my official start date. My current plan is to save $50,000-55,000 and use the rest just to help out my parents and also for my own expenses/fun.

I have basically no student loans, and debt free.

I want to aggresively work hard for promotions and try to put myself in the best position I can by the time I am 30.

What should I be doing?

I like to think that I'm really lucky that I get to live with my parents for one more year and be able to save much of my income (they were originally going to move to Korea).
