For example, I feel like I'm stumbling onto some big secret when I buy my own chicken drumsticks and wings family packs for $5 and change and season them how I like. They always come out way better than those "party wings" bag of maybe eight wings for $8 from Kroger

I also bought a pound of ground beef to make 10 of my own "thin burgers" from a Julia Child recipe and felt like I was some mastermind for figuring out getting 10 patties for $3 and a little work versus however much they charge for 2 or 3 premade burger packs. Laid them all out on a cutting board and stuck them in the freezer for two hours, then stuck the frozen patties in sandwich bags with parchment paper between each slice so I can take out one burger for me or a few for the roommates. And I put my own spices in the ground beef before making the patties so when I do cook them they'll be even better than premade stuff.

I guess all this just to say don't forget the little things when it comes to frugality. Higher quality better tasting food for less with a little work. Fun work too, making it how you want it.

I'm a little baked right now so sorry for the rambling : -)
