Aloha guys. Didn't see a vday thread this year in the search so thought I'd take the initiative.

Looking for frugal Valentines Day ideas. Not sure if how possible that is as I live in Hawai'i and I'm on unemployment due to being furloughed from the pandemic, which hasn't paid anyone in over a month because they're behind on implementing the new PEUC/UI from the Covid relief.

This is important for several reasons. I don't want pity but I was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer at 28. My girlfriend has been with me for 4 months and we got the diagnosis about a month ago. She's been here for me in so many ways and I cannot thank her enough, especially since it's such a new relationship. She flew out here on her own dime to help me with my treatment.

She's going through a lot dealing with this with me and she hasn't been able to see her parents for 6+ years because of immigration/green card issues, so she's been pretty down lately. This is also my first real relationship in my life so I don't have much experience with relationships and I don't know the words to say to comfort her sometimes.

I need to do this right. She deserves the world.

What are some ideas that are budget friendly? I was thinking maybe a picnic at the top of a hike but I'm not sure if I'm capable of hiking as I'm doing palliative chemo and radiation therapy. I looked into ocean front restaurant reservations last week but they're all either already booked up or way too expensive.

She's not a shallow or materialistic girl so I don't have to do anything boujie or crazy. Just something nice, thoughtful, and maybe a little unique to show her how much I care about her

Edit - she's mostly vegetarian, but a little dairy is okay and eggs are okay. And I can't drink alcohol.

Mahalo
