I am a makeup and beauty care lover. I cannot get enough of watching content about these kinds of products and seeking things to work for me. So I get exposed to a lot of review videos and alot of hype around beauty products. Be it skincare, perfumes, haircare, etc. I curb my temptations in a few ways.

Watching detailed reviewers with similar tastes to myself and skin types. This allows me to get a general idea for items that suit me and my skin. Simple enough right?

Waiting for hype to die. Most products become staples of brands when they get enough popularity. Even limited edition products do restock at times or are just redesigns of existing products for a holiday. You don't need to spend on a lipstick you probably wouldn't buy without a holiday design. When products are truly limited edition with no restocking, it's not worth the energy. Once you use it it's all gone, and makes you want to horde it instead of using it normal because you can't repurchase it.

A list of products I already own or taking a moment to look at the volume of stuff I have all at once. Seeing it all laid out shows how much you have to get through and how you have to store it. Scrolling online and seeing an interesting blush for example, always will look good in promo photos. Looking at if you have a similar if not cheaper blush you already love and haven't finished curbs the initial want for something new. You deserve to get the full money's worth. Hit pan on the product.

Samples. This doesn't apply to everything, and may seem obvious but it's often forgotten. Retailers want to give you samples and most times they can be free. You don't need an IPSY subscription for samples. They are often free gifts online when you buy. For me, if I can't get over the urge to get something this is my last defense. Even if the sample in mind isn't free, I can spend less and try it. Often, especially for expensive brands, I go "that's it? That's all everyone was talking about this whole time?" Reminds me that most marketing is to just make you think you're missing out. You're not missing out, this is just another cream or powder.

Drugstore products often dupe high end ones for super cheap. They are not to be ignored they are staples in our lives for a reason. They truly do work. There's nothing wrong with keeping a small kit, or only repurchasing the things you love.
