Of course there are variables. I'd say 90% of people would be fine with download speeds in the 50-100Mbps range and 10Mbsp upload.
You'll be able to video chat. Work from home. Stream. Play video games. Netflix requires a 5Mbps connection for HD video.
WiFi speed has a max. If you get 1000Mbps fiber you WiFi connection will probably max out around 500.
Of course things like data caps and reliability come into play. Plus what is actually available and the cost.
