My employer has reached out to me several times about setting up a 401k and I've refused every time. This is partially because I don't make enough to be able to do that (working at 9/hour and barely making rent), but also because of an illness that will kill me in my 40s. I'm not too worried about a 401k now, but I'll get better paying jobs in the future. To be honest I don't really know how it works, but a lot of people say that it's a good thing.
I just don't see the point in doing it if I'm not going to make it to retirement. I've quite literally got to work until I die. Is there something else I can do to 'save for retirement' so that I can spend the last of my limited years relaxing a bit?
