Microsoft buys Bethesda and enters into a multi year partnership with Gamestop, who was on the verge on bankruptcy and by all accounts, a shitty company. Now Gamestop is pumping hard and apparently strongly backed by a dude (Cohen) who people think has a long game of turning it into a strong e-commerce platform.
I don't understand. Even with console refresh, covid making people game more, etc., I can't see how gaming in general would be so lucrative. I used to game a lot but have since transitioned into casual gaming maybe with 3-4 single player games a year Can someone ELI5? What is the vision Microsoft and Cohen having for gaming in general?
