I currently drive a 2003 Subaru outback I just kicked over 200,000. I worry every time I get in it that it’s going to leave me stranded. I’ve been shopping around for a long time and I finally found a car that I want. It’s a 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited platinum. It has all the bells and whistles I could ever want and it’s 18,895 dollars. It’s a tiny bit over the 16 I wanted to pay and I guess the advice I need is in negotiating. I’m terrible at it… I really like this car and I’m hoping I can use it’s mileage (135k which I’m not worried about since these six cylinder Toyota engines are regularly known to go over 300k), a small dent in the back, and scratches on the rims as a negotiation method. I know this information isn’t much, but what would you all do to negotiate the price down as much as possible if you were in my shoes? (also, there are a few other Toyota Highlander‘s within a 200 mile radius of similar prices with less mileage. The only reason I’m going with this one is because it’s five minutes from my house and I like the color)
