I am a 29-year-old, living, and working abroad. Thus, I do not have access to a 401K. I maxed out my RothIRA for the year. I have no debt or other large financial responsibilities. Due to where I live, I am able to save about 3K per month. Currently, I have a year's salary saved up. However, this money is doing me no good. I want my money to work, save for retirement, and so on. Essentially, I want to take advantage of my current situation.
I talked to a financial advisor from Austen Morris Associates. He did a great sales pitch, but he charges 1.5% each year on the profit of my account. According to quick research, this is higher than the market average for management fees and such. This quickly made me think, I could probably do this for cheaper or free of charge. My GF has persuaded me not to go ahead with this guy, but instead invest it myself.
ISO a strategy that is diversified, can help me get ahead of the average person, retire at a normal age, and so on. Any and all information is appreciated!!!
