Hello!
I thought I would try this question here as I feel ill have the best chance at a solution.
My nephew really wants a PS5 for Christmas. I can’t buy him the whole thing as they are around $500 I think. So my plan was to give him $150 towards it. My mom was also planning on the same thing since he did request money for Christmas for this reason. However, I know that if I give him cash he will end up giving it to his mom for gas or cigarettes or something and I want this gift to be for him. He’s a sweet kid and always wants to take care of his mom. But I feel like he should get to enjoy his Christmas money. I also hesitate on this because he is also known for blowing through his birthday money so him having immediate and easy access doesn’t seem right either.
Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to gift a 14 year old with money that he can’t give away easily? I assume I’d have to accept that he might choose not to save it for a PS5. The money is a gift for him after all. I just hoped that it would go towards something I know he really wants.
