So...it may not seem like something to become emotional about, but it really made me cry.
In an effort to keep my gas and electric bill under $40 every month (specifically in the Winter), I use little to no electricity (i.e. my thermostat isn't on, sleeping under an electric blanket, turning my space heater on for a few hours, wearing sweats and thick socks to bed).
I was talking to two coworkers who I've gotten close to on the phone and I guess they heard me shivering/teeth chattering. That's when I told them what temperature it was inside my house and they both went into mom-mode on me.
They're both pretty aware of my frugal ways and for the most part agree that I do things within reason, but it made me feel so bad to be told how dangerous it was for me to not have my heat on. Not to mention, my actual parents have been riding my ass as well.
So, because it looks like I'm keeping my heat on, what can I do to keep my bill low? I'm afraid my gas and electric bill will be $400 combined by the time my statement comes.
