My mum has done this all my life, and I've started following in her footsteps.
Any Christmas/holiday cards you get, keep. Instead of throwing them out when the festive season is over, use the lovely pictures and patterns to your advantage and make them into gift tags. You can use normal scissors or the patterned ones to make them more decorative as you cut them out.
Then you can then either hole punch the corner and attach to gifts with string or just tape them straight onto the package on one side so it can flip open.
Hey presto, pretty gift tags without having to buy new ones each year!
