I hate it when people waste paper towels by using more than what they need. One way we've reduced paper towel use and waste is to have a bowl that has a stack of paper towels that I've cut down to a small size. I'll take several paper towels and use kitchen shears to cut them into approximately 2"x 2" squares. Most of the time we use them for coffee spoons, but they also come in very handy when you just need a small dabber or have a small spot you need to clean. Sometimes I will cut a few into 2" x 3" or even 3"x 3" and have them in the bowl too. Basically it's DIY select-a-size for all those times you don't need a whole paper towel.
