This is a throwaway, for discretion’s sake. Looking for advice before I contact my former employer.

I was furloughed in March. I received an email from our operations manager clearly stating we are still considered employees until further notice. I was informed in early November that it’s now permanent, and they won’t be bringing us back on.

The company has reported my end of service date to our 401k servicer as the furlough date in March, not the date I was formally laid off in November. I reached a work anniversary in April that brought my vesting up from 60% to 80%. I wasn’t even offered a severance package, and now they’re backdating my termination to screw me out of my employer contributions. Can they do this?
