I spend most of my days on Zoom meetings, but my office is in a shared room. With my son playing nearby. I need a microphone that only picks up audio in its immediate vicinity, preferably directional so that I can point it towards my face and have it close to me so not a lot of background noise is picked up.
I do video recordings for work, so I need this to be production quality, the kid isn't in the background when I'm recording, so no worries there.
I game, so I'd like to use it while gaming.
My budget is 500. I bought a shure sm7b, but found it to pick up all the sounds around me, and would rather get something that isn't picking up ambient noise in the room.
I appreciate your help.
Edit: forgot to mention that my son plays nearby.
