We refreshed our kitchen just now and the main part of it was to update our outdated cabinets. New cabinets cost a fortune so instead of buying new ones I wanted to close the gap to the ceiling and repaint. We also really wanted to add the criss-cross patterns at the top.Below is link with as many steps as I could document. You will see that other than the cabinets there are other things like a new countertops and a tile backsplash, but those were not DIY so I am not going to focus on them over here.
