This is probably not something for people with families, and I will admit I don't do this because I am frugal but because normal shampoo makes my hair flat and gives me dandruff, but you can totally just not buy shampoo if you want to. You can dilute vinegar it 1:3 with water so it goes ok money wise.
Benefits:
- If you wash it all out properly you won't smell like vinegar.
- It feels like conditioner when you put it on your scalp
- It's basically oxidised sugar so you can make it from pretty much anything (e.g. leave out your wine or kombucha for too long)
- Has anti microbial properties
- Is safe
- You don't have to throw out so many shampoo bottles
I am not a huge fan of 'organic' beauty/hair products because I reason that lots of poisons are 'organic' and that term is non specific. I also really appreciate modern science and am interested in the complexity of modern surfactants, but this just seemed kind of fun to do to be honest and it works fine.
I hear that you can also just not wash your hair, but I live in a city with lots of dirt about and my hair is kind of thin, which makes it not fun to go days without washing. Get your salad dressing on if you didn't know this already.
