I ended up with a great branded harness in my size, climbing shoes that fit perfectly, chalk bag and extra chalk. All for $20! The harness is worth at least $65 new, chalk is about $5, the bag for the chalk is $20 and the shoes are easily $100. I got pretty lucky but I also didn't want to pay full price for the gear. I do still want to split the cost with my friend for the brand new belay device we're sharing. It makes me feel better that I saved so much up front and can now spend the money on the gym membership for a few months. It is also very close to my home too. Always check 2nd hand before buying new!
