Hi DIY! Long time lurker, first time poster here -I just moved into a new apartment and we have these nice double hung windows (about 16 of them) and I’m running into issues. I’ve never encountered this kind of issue before, but I’ve also never lived somewhere with double hung windows, so I guess I haven’t had the occasion.Anyways, what’s happening is when I unlock the window, if I open the top pane, the bottom pane also insists on opening several inches. The locking mechanism doesn’t do anything to hold the window in place when open, and there’s no ridge or pop out in the frame anywhere to keep the panes in place. How do I keep the bottom down when the top is open?I’ve already googled this for a good 45 minutes and have only found people who have trouble keeping the top pane from falling open or the bottom pane from falling down when already open, but nobody whose lower pane is popping up.As this is a rental, any solution I have needs to be either very professional looking (so the landlord doesn’t mind it) or easy and clean to remove when I move out. Also, I’m happy to post photos as well, but the rules say to keep help posts as self posts, so I didn’t want to violate them by adding a link in the body via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/3lChu4y
