I made two large compost bins off of my deck. We throw compost directly in them from the deck and I add some of yard waste as well. I designed it so that you can throw the compost into the bins rain or shine without getting wet.. We use the soil, as is, to grow herbs and vegetables. We buy seeds on sale, usually from Grocery Outlet or the dollar store. We don't fertilize or water (PNW it rains a lot), it always grows and it is always good.
