We rent a 2 story house outside of Sacramento where it's been pretty hot. My wife and I both like the house at least a little cool cause we are prone to headaches in the high heat. However, since the ac is running more, our energy bill has almost doubled with PG&E (average $300, this month was over $600). This is insane to me and I can't fathom how that increased so much just over some more ac usage but I guess we weren't being to observant of how often the ac was on.
We were looking at Nest or dual zone climate control options maybe, I can do a the self install on these things im sure. But would those even be efficient or worthwhile?
Is there any options to look at that won't cost too much up front for us to reduce this bill and keep our house cool-ish?
