I thought I’d do a quick review of some shoe trees I’ve bought at various times through this sub. All of these shoe trees are MiUSA.
Shoe trees themselves are a solid frugal investment as they help preserve the life of the shoe by holding the shoe’s shape and absorbing moisture which can break the shoe down over time. Cedar also helps with the smell.
A good price is anything below $15 imo but I’ve seen them as low as $9. Personally, I prefer the split toe versions because they expand in the toe box and hold the shape better.
Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, and Allen Edmonds are all essentially the same. They have a skinnier heel compared to Alfani and Jos A Banks but they are fuller in the toe piece. I believe they’re all made by Woodlore.
Bloomingdales is also made by Woodlore. They are even skinner in the heel and have a loop on the heel for easy removal.
Alfani (through Macy’s) and Jos A Bank are similar but Alfani has a larger more substantial heel piece. They are both manufactured in the USA by Rochester Shoe Tree Company.
I use the AE/Nordstrom/L&T/Bloomingdales for boots and shoes that have more room in the toe box and Alfani/Jos A Bank for shoes that are slimmer in the toe area. Alfani and Jos A Bank also preserve the shape of the heel a bit better.
Anyway, hope this helps for future reference.
