Trying to understand why many sources report a P/E trailing twelve months of about 29 for the S&P 500 including multpl.com but iShares is showing a P/E of 22.77. I know iShares excludes negative earnings and uses the latest fiscal year earnings whereas multpl uses the latest reported earnings, but I doubt that can explain the entire difference. What am I missing?
