Hey all, Not sure if this is the right sub so please direct me there if not. I’m doing a project using old licence plates that I’ve picked up from an antique market. I didn’t notice when I purchased them but they smell BAD! Like super musty old bad. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get the smell out or at least tame the smell. Plates are all US and date from early 50’s to late 80’s. Many are rusted on the back side and I’m pretty sure they just sat outside all the time and not stored indoors except for the winter season. I’ve read that the older plates may have a smell due to the UV coating as it ages. I am cutting them up for my project so I have several small pieces to be used. Hoping someone can lead me in the right direction with nothing too too difficult to manage. Thanks in advance! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2CyMe4T
